Welcome to Sunset Preparatory School
Sunset Preparatory School is a private, Coed, and non-sectarian school in Miami, Florida for Junior and Senior Kindergarten, and Grades 1 through 9. Our academic curriculum includes sources set forth by the Florida Department of Education as well as those offered by the Boards of Public Instruction in the States of New York, California and Massachusetts. Every student attending Sunset Preparatory School has the ability to be educated to their highest individual educational potential.
Our academic programs also address the needs of students who have specific learning needs.
Education that meets the “Educational needs of our students” best describes the Educational Program offered at Sunset Preparatory School. We are dedicated to the mission of educating our students in a positive environment with a recognition that all students do not learn at the same pace but have varied needs.
We believe that children of all ages love the idea of freedom and great outdoors. Our staff works cooperatively to educate each student to be a well-rounded individual and a future contributor to the society. A small student-teacher ratio and an emphasis on the student’s educational needs provide positive success-oriented learning in traditional elementary and middle school settings.
For students with “educational learning gaps”, a transitional skills program is provided in the primary, intermediate and advanced grades. Certified Educators and qualified teachers and aides impact a positive learning environment.
We are a member of the Association of Independent Schools of Florida (AISF). AISF is recognized by the Florida Association of Academic Nonpublic Schools (FAANS) as an accrediting agency for private schools in Florida. AISF is also a Charter Member of the National Council for Private School Accreditation (NCPSA), which serves as a national review panel for the standards and procedures of private school accrediting associations. We are also a member of Independent School of South Florida (ISSF).
Our JR. and SR. Kindergarten Program for boys and girls provides an academic kindergarten environment which helps them become involved in formal learning and daily living skills. Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic programs help our students develop intellectual, physical and cultural skills.
Our elementary & middle school programs are highly structured to offer students “fine-tuned” educational skills. Enrichment activities are also presented as valuable aids in character-building and self-image improvement. We offer Skills Classes at primary, intermediate and advanced grade levels for students who need to close “learning gaps” to attain higher academic performance and positive social adjustment.
